The girl told her mother when she came home after school that her teacher had called her dirty and ordered her to leave the class in Kabiangek, west of Nairobi, last Friday.
The school gate was pulled down and the road was blocked by parents and others who demonstrated a protest outside the school on Tuesday.
“She had nothing to use as a pad. When the blood stained her clothes, she was told to leave the classroom and stand outside.” The mother told the Kenyan media.
Chief Alex Shikondi, a regional police officer said that the incidents around the girl’s death were being investigated.
Kenya has long been among the countries were girls cannot afford sanitary products and such girls are more likely to drop out of school.
